Back in August of 2008, I wrote a post showing you how you can easily make money online using HubPages.com. I think Squidoo is the better option. As you know, I build hundreds of niche web sites; however, I understand that many people can’t afford to spend thousands of dollars on domain names.
That is where Squidoo kicks in. Using Squidoo is totally free and actually has some amazing pull in the search engines. Jennifer is a really cool gal I met on Twitter. Almost 2 years ago, I boldly announced to my husband that I was going to learn how to make money online. I'll admit, it was a pretty humorous statement from someone who was barely adept enough to turn the computer on and send an email, but I was determined.
First off, I’d like to thank Garry for inviting me here to GarryConn.com. Garry runs such fantastic blogs - both here and at BloggingQuestions.com. He is a true asset to the internet marketing community and I am blessed to have made his acquaintance.
Many people ask me how I got started making money online. I imagine many folks think that I had a ton of tech experience or something, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Almost 2 years ago, I boldly announced to my husband that I was going to learn how to make money online. I’ll admit, it was a pretty humorous statement from someone who was barely adept enough to turn the computer on and send an email, but I was determined.
So began my journey into the world of internet marketing.
I had two problems tho…
1. I had NO idea what I was doing.
2. I had VERY limited resources (ie, no MONEY) to invest into my adventure.
Well, as most of us know, finding information about internet marketing is NO problem. Every Tom, Dick, and Harrietta online is MORE than happy to send you info about their “latest and greatest” way to strike it rich on the internet.
I quickly became over-whelmed…and frustrated…and on the verge of giving up.
The problem with learning internet marketing is not a lack of quality information. Instead, it is the fact that there is too MUCH information. It feels impossible to know where to start, doesn’t it?
One day, I had a “stop the madness” moment and decided to learn about basic keyword research, basic optimization, basic link building, and basic traffic building. I also decided that since I had limited resources, that I would instead need to learn how to be resourceful.
I focused my attention on sites that are free to use, that allow affiliate links, and that weren’t so dog-gone hard to use. One of those sites in particular is Squidoo.com.
Through process and elimination, I learned how to generate real live income from those free pages at Squidoo. I couldn’t believe it! I kept duplicating my process, trying new things and removing ineffective things until it became a simple, daily action plan that I did every day.
After a bit of time, all the parts came together into a whole and money started to come in consistently. It felt like a miracle! And it was all because of this simple little action plan I put together. I was then able to pay the bills AND fund my online business so I could create my own niche sites and have things like website hosting and an auto-responder.
Best part of all - I was no longer overwhelmed and frustrated… and THAT is PRICELESS!
My daily action plan was a bunch of notes and scratch pads scribbles - but this past spring, by request, I took all those notes and put them together into what is now called the One Week Marketing Action Plan.
What is so funny to me is that I thought I was putting this together for a few of my PotPieGirl.com readers and it turned out to be a plan of action that hundreds of people are using to finally get income coming in from their computer.
Hearing from these people who are getting their first Clickbank checks and affiliate commissions all because of my mass of sticky-notes has been AWESOME!
